Examination Process
Minimum requirements for applying are:
- Doctoral degree in psychology.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in neuropsychology (of which one year may be a supervised neuropsychological internship).
- Current licensure/certification to practice psychology in a state/province/territory.
- Minimum of 500 hours per year during the last three years providing neuropsychological services.
- Involvement in APA-approved (or equivalent) formal continuing education in neuropsychology.

Mentoring
During the application and examination process, ABN will assist applicants in locating and establishing contact with an examined diplomate who can serve as a mentor. This person can review materials and offer suggestions regarding preparation and assist in developing effective strategies for remediating any weaknesses which are identified. The ABN office can work with the applicant and the mentor in providing reading lists and other relevant support materials.
ABN candidate preparation workshops are offered by members of the Examination Committee.
